Mission

Advancing trusted cloud adoption through education, engagement, and research-aligned activity.

CSA Calgary’s mission is to advance cloud security knowledge and trusted cloud adoption in Calgary and surrounding communities by delivering education, community engagement, and research-aligned activities.

Our focus is local and pragmatic: high-quality events, credible speakers, useful resources, and opportunities for members to contribute to Calgary’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is a good month to check the basics.

Most cloud incidents start with something simple: a reused password, a forgotten access key, a public bucket. CSA Calgary is marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month with four habits any team can check this week.

Awareness Month resources
  1. 01

    Use phishing-resistant MFA

Start with cloud consoles, admin roles, and break-glass accounts. Prefer passkeys or security keys to SMS codes.

  2. 02

    Prune access

Review who and what can reach production. Remove stale users, unused roles, and long-lived access keys.

  3. 03

    Check public exposure

Look for storage, snapshots, and management ports reachable from the internet that do not need to be.

  4. 04

    Know your first hour

Confirm logging is on, alerts reach a person, and the team knows who to call when something looks wrong.
